Evil editor monkey!

Ah, youth, where possibilities are endless!

Me during my stay at the Lyndon LaRouche Summer Camp for Boys, 2 weeks before I was kidnapped and deprogrammed.

Adulthood, where you learn we are all just the Illuminati's little monkeys.

John Lawson (Compline)

More often heard than seen (especially at night), MonkeyCompline is M10K's Submissions Editor and resident screecher. He admires the rebellious skepticism of Voltaire, Beckett, and Heller; the gritty atmospheres of classic Gothic masters such as Shelly, Stoker, Lovecraft, LeFanu, and Lewis; the "hard" Sci-Fi realism of Brin, Niven, and Stephenson; and the mythic surrealism of Pratchett and Holdstock. When not slaving for M10K's greater glory, he is a technical writer and online help developer.

WITCH EMBER
"Poor little witch girl," Esmeree’s accomplice sneers. His Brackish burr rattles through the darkness of the mine. She crouches lower, pressing her back hard against the unfinished stone. Coal dust sifts through her hair, invading eyes, nose, and mouth. She resists the increasing urge to cough or brush it away and hugs her small Palpi scimitar closer to her belly. She can hear him shuffle through the dirt as he feels his way towards her in the darkness.

THE RAVEN
So many dead.  The humbled army lays prone in the deepening mud—bodies pierced and cut and crushed—spirits having long since departed to answer to God for their sins.  Its few survivors scurry away, fleeing both the rain and the unstoppable, inhuman, unholy warriors it heralds.  Churning the mud in their desperate flight, many soldiers have drowned in it, trampled and crushed by their brethren behind them.  Muskets and pikes and sabers lay strewn and forgotten like cut hay.

JUSTICE OF THE KNIFE
"I feel betrayed," moaned Mister Gorilla as he shook his shaggy head. The others nodded in sympathy. >>>

SOLITUDE BEST WHEN SHARED
Oh, god. Face and lips crush against woven metal, speaker gently humming, waiting. "Oh, god. I love you. Did you know that? I love you."

Speaker beats against skin with deep vibrations. "Nonsequitur. Response does not pertain to request. Please restate response." >>>

ANGEL OF DARKNESS, DEMON OF LIGHT
He rises and approaches.  Her eyes turn to meet him.  She stands defiant.  Like a trembling animal, he approaches and gently kisses her.  Her eyes snap shut and then open.  He is beautiful.  Not like the perfection of the others.  His beauty lays elsewhere.  Why hasn't she seen it before?  Hate.  Fear.  Long canines curve from her mouth.  Pale eyes narrow.>>>
